The First Lego league (FLL) is an annual robotics competition that teams participate in as a group to overcome obstacles and meet challenges set out by the annual theme. The theme focuses on real world problems which the learners are then tasked to solve. The teams work to find creative solutions to the problems presented to them in the First Lego League Challenge. They learn from and interact with their peers as well as adult Coaches and Mentors. The KZN Science Centre is the regional host of the FLL competition which sees around 150 participants competing annually. in addition, three top performing teams advance to the National semi-final held at Sci-bono Discovery Centre to compete with the rest of the provinces.
The challenge theme is released at the end of August and the competition is held between October and November. Teams interested in participating should contact The KZN Science Centre as soon as possible.
